This mural is at Pine Trees, in memory of Lily Able, a lovely surfer and soul, and celebration of the lifeguards that Rachel Able worked for years to establish at Pines.

And lastly mahalos to EVERY SINGLE PERSON who I met who talked story with me while I painted- sometimes for hours, despite the sun beating down. I was beyond honored to be the artist for this.

 

Everything in this mural was drawn with intention. The trees and bushes are naupakapaka. The 'io honors the late Chief Kazuo Todd, who helped Rachel place the lifeguard stand. The other hidden gems have their own stories, but you can make your own connection to them.
